A Fitness Challenge with a Farming Twist
Do you think you have what it takes to be as tough, hardworking, and resilient as a farmer? It's time to find out at Rockingham County's first-ever hybrid fitness fundraiser— the Rocktown Down & Dirty.
We're bringing you a unique event that combines fitness, farming, and a whole lot of fun, all to support the Rockingham County Fair Barn Raising Project (hyperlink). It's not just a competition; it's a party and community event rolled into one!
What to Expect
This hybrid event blends farm chores with Tough Mudder-type challenges. Gather your team of four and get ready to take on three farm-inspired events designed to test your communication, teamwork, strength, and endurance. You'll be carrying feed bags, flipping tires, holding cinder blocks, and doing bodyweight exercises. It’s all doable if you bring your determination and a touch of grit.
Timed Team Events include:
- Feeding Time – teams will be tasked to move a pallet of bagged feed across barriers and restack it on another pallet.
- Shop Time – teams will be tasked with “chores” relating to a large tractor tire and bodyweight exercises.
- Morning Chores – teams will be tasked to carry cinder blocks and drive t-posts into the ground to accomplish this event.

- Time: 9 AM - 3 PM
What to Do Between Events
When you’re not competing, take a break and enjoy a cold beer or beverage, grab a bite to eat from local food vendors, and connect with friends, family, and other community members. Check out booths from local businesses or test your skills in our mini-events like the keg throw or hay toss. It's all about having a great time while raising money for a good cause.
Your friends and family are encouraged to attend, for FREE, to cheer your team on and enjoy the day at the fair!
Compete for Glory
Get your team together and compete for a Rocktown Down & Dirty Championship Trophy and individual prizes! A grand prize will be awarded to the fastest team in the competitive registration category. Not only will you have a blast, but you’ll also be supporting the young people and the future of agriculture in Virginia.
